Cashier

As the last point of contact with customers, it is the cashier's responsibility to ensure that the customer has had a positive experience, found everything they were looking for, and leaves the store with a smile. The cashier handles the payment process and balances the cash register. Finally, they ensure that their workstation is clean.
RESPONSABILITIES
Health, safety, and food hygiene:
- Follow the store's dress code and personal hygiene rules;
- Follow safety standards and wear personal protective equipment when needed;
- Follow food safety procedures according to department requirements;
Greet customers at the register;
- Advise and answer customer questions;
- Provide exemplary customer service;
- Ask customers if they found everything they were looking for; if not, ask a clerk or cashier assistant to fetch the product;
- Ensure there are no products under the basket;
- Ensure that customers are of legal age to purchase alcoholic beverages and lottery products;
- Record all sales in accordance with store procedures;
- Collect payment from customers (cash, credit card, or debit card);
- Fill out delivery order slips;
- Help with product packaging when the packer is unavailable;
- Contact the packer or clerk to verify the price of a product;
- Clean your work area (carpet and cash register counter);
- Make cash deposits during the day, according to store policy;
- Count the cash register, according to store policy;
- Close the cash register, produce the cash register report, and make deposits.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Ability to express oneself in French
- Cashier experience an asset
- Experience in a supermarket an asset
