Senior Chief Accountant

Under the direction of the financial controller, the senior accountant supervises the accounts payable and receivable departments, periodically verifies the income statements and assists the controller in closing the end of periods. He participates in the organization of the tasks of the department and in the preparation of budgets. The senior accountant is also responsible for training, evaluating and coaching team members in order to optimize the performance of the department.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting technicians teams and participate in the optimization of tasks; Monitor banking and accounting operations;
  • Check and control the correct application of purchasing agreements; Issue the income statement and the balance sheet and review the entries made in the ledgers and account reconciliations;
  • Oversee and verify the calculation of periodic accruals, rebates and volume discounts and follow up on amounts received for all divisions in Quebec and Ontario;
  • Periodically verify Canadian accounts payable and affiliated companies;
  • Check prepaid fees;
  • Periodically check the income statements and analyze variances with the budget;
  • Approve depreciation and the register of fixed assets;
  • Assist the controller in closing the end of periods;
  • Participate in the preparation of the expenditure budget for all divisions;
  • Prepare various periodic analysis reports requested by management;
  • Supervise the accounting of inventory counts;
  • Participate in the accounts payable optimization project and the SAP project.

Team management :

  • Assist in the recruitment, training and evaluation of personnel under his direction and distribute tasks between them;
  • Maintain a pleasant atmosphere between team members and resolve interpersonal conflicts;
  • Train and coach team members;
  • Other related tasks.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Hold a BBA in accounting or finance;
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • CPA title or in the process of obtaining
  • Functional bilingualism in French and English
  • Experience in team management an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel - advanced level
